The STUDY secondary programme consists of English, Maths and Science. It has been designed to support those students who are in Year 7 to 9, which is the crucial pre-GCSE stage. The students receive sufficient individualised time and attention from the tutor in order to get the help needed with the topics that they struggle with hence why class sizes are no larger than 4 students per tutor. One- to-one tuition can also be arranged upon request in these subjects.
Most schools group students for GCSE as per the subject performance in year 9. We, therefore, work closely with our year 9 students to ensure they rise to the top groups for GCSE classes to ensure academic success outside of the tuition centre as well as within.
The new GCSE Science specification started from September 2016. Students have the opportunity to take the individual subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or a combined or triple Science. Our STUDY Science programme carefully follows the national curriculum.
The tutors plan an inquiry-based Science session for their students. In doing so, tutors select teaching and assessment strategies that support the development of students’ understanding, helping them to answer scientific questions about the world around them - a key theme in exam papers today.
The GCSE English programme at STUDY aims to provide a broad course which covers all aspects of the national curriculum in-depth. STUDY ensures that we are equipped with tutors who possess the knowledge of the new specification and the changes it has brought. Our programme provides a strong foundation for those who aim to study English/English Literature at a higher level post-GCSE.
With the writing and reading aspects aside, we also emphasise our students’ fluency of the spoken language as it forms part of the assessment taken. In English Literature, we carefully follow a programme of literary texts and poetry, ensuring students understand the literary techniques and various aspects of language. STUDY ensures that all our tutors have substantial knowledge of the requirements of the new specification and the challenges that it poses to students.
The new GCSE Mathematics specification started from September 2015. With the course now taking a linear format, it means examinations are at the very end of a student’s academic journey. Our STUDY Mathematics programme ensures students are familiar with the common core mathematics concepts, helping them with problem-solving skills. Our programme further helps and support students apply mathematical techniques to real-world problems. STUDY ensures that all our tutors have substantial knowledge of the requirements of the new specification and the challenges that it poses to students.
